HARTA SAUNA
TERMS & CONDITIONS

The small print - tedious but important !

By booking and attending a session at the Santai Sauna at HARTA retreat, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. These guidelines are in place to ensure your safety, comfort, and the enjoyment of all guests.

1. General Use & Liability

  • All guests use the sauna, cold plunge and wellness facilities at their own risk.

  • If you have any health concerns or are taking prescription medication, you must consult your GP before using the sauna.

  • HARTA retreat accepts no responsibility for injury, illness, or loss arising from sauna use, cold plunge, or movement around the wellness area.

  • Personal belongings are your own responsibility. HARTA retreat is not liable for any lost, damaged, or stolen items.

2. Health & Safety

You must not use the sauna or cold plunge if you:

  • Are pregnant

  • Have heart conditions, high/low blood pressure, circulatory disorders, epilepsy, or diabetes

  • Are prone to dizziness or fainting

  • Have open wounds or fungal infections

  • If unsure, consult your GP before booking

3. Sauna Use

  • Always sit on a towel inside the sauna (required for hygiene and safety).

  • Footwear is not permitted inside the sauna.

  • Do not bring glass containers into the wellness area.

  • Bring your own swimwear, towel(s) and water bottle (unless you are booking as part of a package).

  • The sauna is heated by a wood-fired stove – please do not touch the stove or rocks. It gets extremely hot and will burn.

  • If you’d like to adjust the humidity, you may add water from the bucket provided in the sauna, using the ladle provided. If you wish, you can add a few drops of the essential oil (also provided) to the ladle but please seek group consent if you are sharing you session with others. Pour gently (drizzle, not dump).

  • Do not add any other oils, scents or products to the water bucket or the stove – these can be hazardous and damage equipment.

4. Cold Plunge & Outdoor Shower

  • The cold plunge is a simple and very large reconditioned whiskey barrel. It is filled with clean spring water prior to each session and treated using a chlorine tablet, intended for this purpose. The water is not actively chilled so temperature will vary according to ambient conditions. The temperature also increases slightly each time a person enters the plunge and for this reason the water will be topped up and partially replenished during heavy usage. Please shower before and after each immersion.

  • Cold immersion is entirely at your own risk.

  • We recommend starting gradually, especially if new to cold therapy. Listen to your body.

  • Do not enter the plunge or shower if you are unwell, dizzy, or have any open wounds.

5. Children & Family Use

  • Children under 16 are not permitted in Social Sauna Sessions.

  • Private Sessions: Children aged 6–16 may attend with a parent or guardian inside the sauna on a 1:1 supervision ratio. The adult must accept full responsibility for the child’s safety and conduct.

  • We reserve the right to refuse entry to under-supervised children.

6. Changing & Facilities

  • There is no formal changing area. Please arrive with swimwear under your clothing or robe.

  • You may use the event tipi toilets to change if needed. Please leave them clean and tidy for other guests.

  • Please note that your session time includes changing.

7. Behaviour & Etiquette

  • Alcohol, drugs, and nudity are strictly prohibited in the sauna and wellness area.

  • Do not attend your session under the influence of alcohol or substances. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone deemed unfit for use.

  • Please arrive on time. Late arrivals may have reduced session time.

  • Keep sauna doors closed to maintain heat and respect others' experience.

  • For hygiene reasons, remove all skincare products, makeup, and jewellery before entering the sauna.

  • Avoid using the sauna if you've dyed your hair in the previous 72 hours.

  • During Social Sessions, please refrain from photography or video to respect the privacy of others.

8. Group Bookings

  • If you’re booking on behalf of a group, it’s your responsibility to share these Terms & Conditions with all participants and ensure they are followed.

  • The lead guest is responsible for group conduct and safety.

9. Staff & Supervision

  • The sauna is heated and monitored by staff who may top up the fire during your session. Please do not attempt to stoke or adjust the fire yourself.

10. Admission Policy

  • We reserve the right to refuse admission to any individual for safety, health or conduct reasons.

  • No refunds will be issued in the case of refusal due to breach of terms.

If you have any questions before your session or are unsure whether sauna use is safe for you, please email us in advance at hello@harta-retreat.co.uk
